The article introduces the popular Japanese Shine Muscat grape variety, known for its sweetness and origin from Okayama Prefecture, with some varieties earning a geographical indication status in Japan. This grape has been introduced to other countries like China, but quality control varies. Recently, seven new grape varieties with at least 50% Shine Muscat genes have been developed in Australia by Royal Grapes Pty Ltd, with one named Yuhou reportedly surpassing Shine Muscat.
