This week in Ukraine, the new harvest apple season began, with analysts from the electronic publication EastFruit reporting that farmers have essentially started harvesting at almost the same time as last season. Purchase prices for the new harvest as of July 18 are between 60 and 70 hryvnias (1.43-1.67 dollars) per kilogram, which is on average 2.9 times more expensive than at the beginning of the last season. According to key participants in the local market, the start of the season immediately negatively impacted sales of imported fruits, although Ukrainian traders are in no hurry to lower prices for their products.
