Brazil has achieved a new market opening in Paraguay following the conclusion of phytosanitary negotiations between the two countries. The agreement will allow the export of chia seeds to the Paraguayan market. According to the government, the measure represents a business opportunity for small and medium rural producers who cultivate chia as a source of income, particularly in the Central-West, western Paraná, and northwestern Rio Grande do Sul regions. In 2024, Brazilian exports of agricultural products to Paraguay totaled approximately US$ 963 million.
