A new hybrid variety of white sorghum, with the potential to increase yield by 25% compared to existing varieties, has been developed in Zimbabwe. The collaboration between ICRISAT and the Pan African Seed Company can result in higher income for farmers and greater resilience to erratic rainfall. This innovation is a significant achievement, with a yield potential of up to 8 tonnes per hectare, and is part of the research conducted by the Sorghum and Pearl Millet Hybrid Parents Research Consortium (SPMHPRC).
