New Zealand's dairy production has seen a decrease of 3.8 percent, reaching 21.05 million tons, according to the New Zealand Dairy Association. This decline is due to fewer dairy cows, humid weather in the North Island, and stricter production and environmental regulations. The country also failed to break its record of 1.91 million tonnes in milk ingredients from 2021. The first seven months of the 2022/2023 milk season saw a 2.6% decrease in milk production and a 2.1% decrease in dairy ingredient production compared to the previous season. Leading New Zealand dairy company, Fonterra, expects to process around the same amount of raw material as the previous season for the full 2022/2023 season.
