Next decade in the EU: More oilseeds and protein and the same cereal production

In the next 10 years, the total agricultural area of the EU is expected to decrease by 0.5 million hectares, reaching 161.2 million hectares. In parallel, the EU forest area is projected to continue to expand and reach 161 million ha, bringing as much forest area as agricultural area in the EU by 2030. As for the areas of pasture and forage, it is considered that they will increase, while the land dedicated to crops should decline. These are some of the conclusions of the Report on Agricultural Outlook in the EU in 2020-30, which the European Commission has just published.
