Nice rise in the floor price of cotton in Burkina Faso

In Burkina Faso, the floor purchase prices for conventional seed cotton are set at FCFA 270 per kilo of 1st choice seed cotton and at 245 FCFA for the 2nd choice for the 2021/22 campaign. This is a nice increase compared to the last campaign when the 1st choice was at FCFA 240 per kilo for the 1st choice and it is even higher than the FCFA 265 of 2019/20 (read our information from June 2020: Le cotton producer price fixed at FCFA 240 per kilo in Burkina Faso). Regarding the results of the 2020/21 campaign, the press release dated yesterday from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Crafts (the Minister being also Chairman of the Monitoring Committee for the relaunch of cotton production ) takes into account "the latest updates" which leads to updates of certain figures announced by the Council of Ministers of April 21 (read our information: Burkina Faso anticipates a 33% increase in its cotton production in 2021/22 ).
