Nigeria's exports experienced a 2.6% increase in the first half of 2024, reaching a total of US$2.7 billion, as reported by the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC). The country exported 211 products, with cocoa, grains, urea, and sesame being the primary items. The main export destinations were Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Brazil. The National Bureau of Statistics reported a 123% increase in agricultural exports compared to the previous quarter and a 270% growth compared to the first quarter of the year. The main agricultural exports were sent to Asia and Europe, with sesame seeds and cocoa beans being the most exported products. This growth reflects the Nigerian government's efforts to diversify the economy and promote agriculture as a key source of revenue.
