Norwegian Salmon Exports to China Surge 181% in May

In the first five months of the year, Norway's salmon exports to China increased by 123% in total volume and 58% in total value, reaching a cumulative export value of 3.2 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $304 million). Sigmund Bjørgo, Norway Seafood Council representative in China, stated, "Price competitiveness and emerging digital sales channels are key to this growth." Meanwhile, Norway's salmon market share in China continued to rise, reaching 67% in April 2025, the highest level in the past 15 years. Surge in Export Volume Prices Hit Largest Monthly Decline Norway's salmon exports in May totaled 112,846 tons, a 38% year-on-year increase. However, total export value was 9.8 billion Norwegian kroner, a 1% year-on-year decrease.
