The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) is ramping up its efforts to penetrate the U.S. market further, following a record-breaking year in 2023 with seafood exports valued at NOK 172 billion (USD 15.8 billion, EUR 14.8 billion). Despite a slowdown in export value growth in the first quarter of 2024, attributed to a weaker kroner, the U.S. continues to be a key market, especially for Norwegian salmon, with exports reaching 71,113 metric tons in 2023. This contributed to an 18 percent increase in the U.S. market's value to NOK 13.7 billion (USD 1.26 billion, EUR 1.18 billion). NSC CEO Christian Chramer emphasized the organization's commitment to expanding its activities and presence in the U.S., capitalizing on the rising demand for Norwegian seafood.
