Not India, Indonesia turns out to depend on these 4 countries for rice

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia-The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that Indonesia will import 3.06 million tons of rice during 2023. There are 4 countries that are Indonesia's main import sources for this basic food need. BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini said Thailand is the country that imports the most rice to Indonesia. Total imports from Thailand reached 1.382 million tons or the equivalent of 45.13% of total imports "Most of it comes from Thailand, 1.3 million tons or 45.12% of total rice imports," said Pudji in a press conference at his office Monday (15/1/2024). Pudji said the next country that imported the most rice was Vietnam with a volume of 1.148 million tons (37.47%); Pakistan 309 thousand tons (10.10%; and Myanmar 141 thousand tons (4.61%); and other countries 83 thousand tons (2.70%).
