In the fiscal 2020-21, Iran saw a significant growth in its nuts and dried fruits exports, with a 54% increase in weight and a 42% increase in value compared to the previous year, totaling 776,000 tons worth $2.03 billion. China, the UAE, India, Iraq, Pakistan, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Afghanistan were the main importers. Pistachios, the country's most valuable export, saw an 88% and 43% growth, while date exports also surged, driven by demand in Muslim countries and Ramadan. Iran is the world's largest date exporter. Additionally, raisin exports experienced a 48% and 45% growth. The country's grape production, mainly from the Hamedan Province, is renowned for its quality and yield, with Malayer County's Jowzan Valley being recognized as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the FAO.
