The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has declared several regions in Russia, including the Amur and Khabarovsk regions, Primorsky and Trans-Baikal Territories, and the Jewish Autonomous Region, as safe for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) with vaccination. This decision was made after a detailed submission from Rosselkhoznadzor, and is due to the region's long land border with countries unfavorable for FMD, primarily China and Mongolia. The status was confirmed after years of effort from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor, and scientists of the FGBI "ARRIAH" Service, and also confirms the status of freedom from other cattle diseases.
