In 2024, Russia achieved a gross harvest of oil flax seeds amounting to 1.35 million tons, marking a 16.8% increase from the previous year with a record-setting 2.58 million tons cultivated in 2022. This growth is supported by an 18.4% expansion in flax cultivation area, reaching 1.67 million hectares in 2023. The leading regions for flax harvest were Altai Krai, Omsk, Kurgan, Rostov, and Chelyabinsk, contributing 47.5% to the total harvest. The first half of the flax seed export season saw significant activity, with exports totaling 685 thousand tons, primarily to China and Belgium, indicating a strong global demand for Russian flax seeds.
