Brazil: Chicken production costs reached the highest value in the last 11 months in May

Compared to several previous occasions, the cost of chicken production in the first four months of this year was marked by great stability, as it varied only 1% above and below the average observed in the period. But this stability was broken last May when, in addition to recording the first increase of the year, the cost of chicken production reached the highest level in the last 11 months. According to the monthly survey by Embrapa Swine and Poultry, last May the production of a kilogram of chicken cost R$4.42 – a value that, although still 4.12% lower than in May 2023, represented an increase of 3.27 % over the previous month, surpassing the values that had been recorded since July last year.
