Green onion producers in Minas Gerais, Goiás, and São Paulo, Brazil, are marketing their produce at high prices due to expected future drop in market values. Despite stable prices in the Triângulo Mineiro region from 6 to 10 July, productivity has decreased due to increased discard. High humidity and incomplete cure are creating favorable conditions for pathogens to cause rotting. Producers are strategically removing bulbs to control supply and soften the price drop anticipated between August and September.
