Consumer prices of eggs and beef increased by 1% and 2% respectively in December 2020 and January 2021, due to the pandemic and a steady rise in beef prices since 2017. In contrast, fresh vegetables prices remained stable, and the prices of pork, bread, potatoes, dairy, poultry, and fresh fruit fell by a maximum of 2% in the same period. The decrease in dairy prices was attributed to falls in the prices of yoghurt, cheese, and quark, rather than fresh or long-life milk.
