A joint inspection operation seized approximately 1,400 tons of irregularly held seeds in Rio Grande do Sul. The action, carried out last week as part of Operation Safe Seed III, was coordinated by the Specialized Police Station for the Repression of Rural Crimes and Cattle Rustling, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and the RS Agriculture Secretariat. The inspections occurred at companies and rural properties involved in the production, commercialization, and use of seeds. Producers of winter forage, such as black oats, white oats, ryegrass, rye, and wheat, were also inspected. In addition to the seizures, the teams issued violation notices. The estimated value of the retained products reaches R$ 6.1 million. The identified irregularities are being investigated in administrative processes that may result in penalties such as warnings, fines, and even the condemnation of the seized seeds.
