This scheme aims to foster the growth of various horticultural crops, including fruits and vegetables, across the country. It provides financial support for activities such as cultivar improvement, protected cultivation, water management, and the adoption of integrated pest and nutrient management practices, alongside organic farming and capacity building for farmers and technicians. Furthermore, the article emphasizes the significant training efforts by the ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute in Nagpur, which has trained a substantial number of citrus growers and officials, and its role in producing and distributing citrus planting materials to support the development of a healthy mother stock for the sector.
