The European Union (EU) has decided to exclude Peruvian organic quinoa from its list of organic products subject to additional controls, effective from 2025. This decision follows intensive collaboration between Peruvian trade committees and EU authorities, aimed at resolving issues related to pesticide residues that have previously prevented the free trade of Peruvian quinoa in the EU. The removal of these restrictions not only opens up the quinoa market but also extends to other organic products such as lemon, pomegranate, and coffee. Only bananas and ginger will continue to face additional controls.
