In the first nine months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan's wheat imports from Kazakhstan significantly increased by 3.5 times, totaling 18.2 thousand tons valued at $3.4 million, according to the National Statistical Committee. This marks a notable rise from the same period last year, when imports were 5.2 thousand tons worth $1.4 million. Other countries like Russia, Uzbekistan, and Romania also contributed to Kyrgyzstan's wheat supply during the same timeframe.
