To promote the clam industry, a cooperative system among the public sector, government, and academia is being established. The National Institute of Fisheries Science announced that on the 5th, a public-government-academic cooperation council for the revitalization of the clam industry was held at the Tidal Flat Research Center in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, to discuss the formation of an association that will serve as the hub of the clam industry and ways to improve sustainable productivity. About 60 people from clam-related fishing associations, local governments, the Korean Fisheries Harbor Corporation, and officials from the institute from Incheon to South Jeolla Province attended the council to share various opinions from the field. The main topics of discussion included △ ways to improve sustainable clam productivity △ the formation of an association to serve as a single window for the fishing industry △ policy development.
