Tea Export Situation
According to customs statistics, from January to May 2025, China's tea exports reached 168,400 tons, valued at $592 million, representing year-on-year increases of 16.6% and 8.7% respectively; the average price was $3.5 per kilogram, a year-on-year decrease of 6.8%.
Among tea varieties, green tea (147,000 tons), black tea (10,600 tons), jasmine tea (2,931 tons), and white tea (158 tons) showed export growth, with green tea exports increasing the most at 18.8% in volume and 13.6% in value. Oolong tea (5,947 tons), ripe Pu-erh tea (527 tons), black tea, and other flower teas showed a downward trend, with black tea exports declining the most at 27.9% in volume and 52.8% in value, while white tea's average price dropped the most at 55.5%.
The top 10 tea export markets were Morocco, Senegal, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Russia, Mauritania, Algeria, Chad, Libya, and Germany. Exports to Libya increased the most, with volume (4,854 tons) and value ($14.61 million) rising by 146.6% and 91.3% respectively. Exports to Ghana decreased the most, with volume (107,990 tons) and value ($43.54 million) falling by 38.0% and 37.8% respectively.
