(Paju=Yonhap News) Reporter No Seung-hyuk = Gyeonggi Province's Paju City announced on the 15th that the 29th Jangdan Bean Festival will be held for three days starting on the 21st at Imjingak.
The Jangdan Bean Festival, themed "Clean Paju, Beans in Harmony," will be held at Imjingak Plaza and the Peace Nuri area to promote the excellence of Jangdan beans and share local food.
The festival will sell Jangdan beans produced in clean areas such as the civilian access control line and the slopes of Mount Gamak at low prices.
Various beans such as seolitae, baektae (yellow beans), and jjuni-eunkong, along with processed bean foods like doenjang, ganjang, and cheonggukjang, will be sold at prices 10-15% lower than the market price.
A total of 150 tons of beans are expected to be traded at this year's festival.
Rich programs related to Jangdan beans have also been prepared.
The festival site is composed of the Jangdan Bean Exhibition Hall and various performances to promote Jangdan beans, called "Jangdan Sambaek"; a market for processed foods and specialty restaurants called "Alkong Dalkong"; various experience events such as making small meju and bean pounding called "Nolkong"; and a direct sales area for Jangdan beans by farmers called "Salkong."
Tourists and others can enjoy making tofu and small meju using Jangdan beans, bean pounding experience, and kimchi making experience.
At the festival site, you can buy Jangdan beans such as seolitae and baektae at low prices, and at the Jangdan Bean Experience Village, you can experience making tofu and cheonggukjang in the traditional way.
