In Pakistan, 6 die in mayhem at free wheat flour distribution centers in Ramadan

ISLAMABAD: Six people, mostly elderly persons and women have lost their lives in mayhem caused during the distribution of free bags of wheat flour in different cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) since Ramadan began. The Punjab caretaker authorities supported by the federal government had announced Rs53 billion (Dh688 million) Ramadan Package for the low-income households to distribute among them free wheat flour bags. Similarly, around 92 per cent of the population of KP are expected to receive free wheat flour under the Ramadan Package. It is estimated that about 1.5 million families and 100 million individuals will benefit from the free flour package.
