Pakistan has resumed sugar exports to Afghanistan after a four-year break caused by domestic shortages and high prices. The current exports amount to 150 thousand metric tons, valued at $90 million, and are being transported via the Torkham checkpoint. As of mid-July, Pakistan's sugar surplus was 1.2 million tons, projected to increase to 1.5 million tons by November. Producers plan to export a total of 350 thousand tons, worth $200 million.
