Pakistan is planning to increase its soybean imports from the United States in 2025, following a purchase of 225,000 tonnes of US soybeans, the largest since restrictions on genetically modified soybeans in October 2022. The move is due to growing demand from Pakistani poultry producers. The deal is the largest since the purchase of 297,000 tonnes in June 2022, despite a 29% reciprocal tariff imposed by the US on Pakistani imports. Both countries are currently negotiating a more favorable trade agreement.
