Peru: Palm growers with expectations in a sustainable production plan, to increase their investments

The producers of crude palm oil have placed great expectations in the elaboration of a national plan that defines the practices for the sustainable performance of this sector. The preparation of this document will be in charge of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) and unions linked to the sector. As it is recalled, last May Midagri created the multisectoral working group to prepare the "Management Instrument for the sustainable development of oil palm in Peru, period 2021-2031". As a first step, officials and unions are preparing a diagnosis of the sector. The palm growers unions indicate that this plan would allow them to have greater clarity on the practices required to achieve economic and environmental sustainability in the production of crude palm oil.
