Açaí, a popular Brazilian fruit from the Amazon region, is grown primarily in Pará, accounting for nearly 95% of the country's production. The fruit, known for its health benefits and culinary uses, has become a significant part of Brazil's agricultural economy, generating over R$ 1.5 billion in 2021. The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) has developed new varieties, BRS Pará and BRS Paidégua, which are planted on over 212 thousand hectares. In Marabá, Pará, the Municipal Department of Agriculture (Seagri) plans to distribute over a million seedling by the end of the year to support the açaí production industry, providing technical assistance to ensure the sustainable growth of açaí cultivation.
