The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) announced the approval of phytosanitary requirements to export Colombian cocoa beans to Paraguay, following negotiations between the health authorities of both countries. This approval is expected to strengthen the Colombian economy and promote the growth of the Colombian cocoa sector. The exported cocoa will be subject to phytosanitary inspection and laboratory analysis in Paraguay, and must be accompanied by a Phytosanitary Certificate or Phytosanitary Re-export Certificate. Paraguay is the latest addition to the list of countries that Colombia exports cocoa beans to, including Malaysia, Australia, Argentina, Nicaragua, India, and Peru.
