Paraguay has been forced to suspend beef exports to Russia due to payment uncertainties, a consequence of Russia's financial exclusion and its conflict with Ukraine. However, the country is not heavily reliant on Russia and has the potential to diversify its export markets, with a current reach of 75 markets. Despite the suspension, companies with authorization to export to Russia are still processing and shipping orders already in transit. Additionally, Russia may be exploring alternative payment channels, such as transactions processed through China. In 2021, Russia accounted for about 19% of Paraguay's total livestock export earnings, totaling around $380 million.
