Paraná's soybean producers are on track to produce a record-breaking 20.89 million tons in the first 2022/2023 harvest, a 70% increase from the previous year, according to the Subjective Crop Forecast (PSS) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral). With 17% of the area already harvested and 85% in good condition, the state is overcoming planting and harvesting delays. Despite lower prices in February, the average price paid per 60 kg bag of soybeans was the lowest in the last 12 months. There's a trend towards increasing winter crop areas, primarily wheat, due to harvesting challenges and the lower cost of fertilizers. However, there's an expected reduction of over 100 thousand hectares in the second harvest, mainly in corn and beans, which will be compensated by winter crops.
