The government of Minas Gerais announced the regulation of the production and commercialization of Minas Parmesan cheese. Now, the standardized recipe of the item produced in the Suaçuí Valley is formally recognized by the state. The decision aims to benefit around 200 rural producers. The measure also guarantees sanitary security and allows the official sale of the traditional cheese. Local producers celebrate the technical assistance received during the regulatory process and expect improvements in the quality and future prospects of rural production. “We represent just one of the many producers here in the region who are striving for an improvement in their production.
