Peaches and nectarines, +14% for production in Europe

The European forecasts for peaches and nectarines were presented two days ago at Medfel-Europech. The data at the moment are comforting, because they estimate a +14% compared to 2022, and a -1% compared to the 2017-2021 average. As Revista Mercados reports and can be verified on the Medfel website, the first data do not take into account the floods that recently hit the Emilia-Romagna region, severely damaging stone fruit as well. A further update will be made in June, in order to observe more clearly the real impact of the heavy adverse events. In total, 2,687,591 tonnes are expected for Europe compared to 2,348,159 tonnes last year. As regards Italy, total production, gross of recent events, should be around 869,000 tonnes, divided as follows : 423,000 peaches and 446,000 nectarines plus 64,000 peaches. Last year, however, the harvest was as follows: 944,000 tons, or 438,000 peaches and 506,000 nectarines, as well as 71,000 peaches. From one year to the next we would in any case ...
