Argentina's peanut industry is experiencing growth, with the current harvesting campaign covering 400 thousand hectares, a 5% increase from the previous year. The expected yield is 3,500 kilos per hectare, leading to an estimated production of 700 thousand tons. This production aims to recover the export levels of the past five years, excluding the drought-affected previous year. Peanuts are mainly cultivated in Córdoba, with expansion into Santa Fe, La Pampa, and Buenos Aires. Despite declining international prices, the industry does not face withholdings. The last campaign saw a significant drop in production and exports due to drought and administrative challenges. The sector is promoting peanuts as a sustainable crop, emphasizing its importance to the humid pampas region, akin to the cultural and economic significance of yerba mate in Misiones, vine in Mendoza, and sugar cane in Tucumán.
