In September 2021, Vietnam experienced a decrease in pepper exports by 13.04% to 15,336 tons and a drop in export value by 19.12% to 61.84 million USD compared to the previous month. However, there was a 35.36% increase in export value compared to the same period last year. From January to September 2021, Vietnam's pepper exports totaled 212,983 tons with an export value of 719.16 million USD, marking a 47% increase in export value but a 3.2% decrease in export volume compared to the same period in 2020. The US and Europe were the largest markets for Vietnam's pepper imports, which increased by 11.7% and 3.2% respectively. However, imports decreased by 7.2% in Asia, led by China, and by 32.6% in Africa. The decrease in exports and the fight against Covid-19 have led to a sharp increase in pepper prices in the third quarter of 2021.
