On September 5, 2020, Vietnam witnessed a slight increase in pepper prices across its regional markets, with figures ranging from 47,500 VND to 50,000 VND per kg. Despite a minor uptick in August, pepper exports have seen a consistent decline since 2019, with a 4.6% drop in volume and 3% increase in value compared to the same period in the previous year. The first eight months of 2020 recorded exports of 203 thousand tons at a value of $ 445 million, marking a 7.4% decrease in volume and 19.9% decrease in value from the same period in 2019. Notably, the export of ground black pepper experienced significant growth in major markets like the United States, UK, Netherlands, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Sweden, China, and Korea, with notable increases in Germany and Chile.
