Peru and Ecuador are set to boost their trade relations through the development of the Chancay megaport, which is expected to lower logistics costs and enhance connectivity with Asia. This will primarily benefit the agribusiness and manufacturing sectors. In 2024, trade between the two countries reached $2,666 million, with Peru exporting $1,058 million and importing $1,608 million. Key products included animal feed, copper wire, and fishmeal, alongside imports of oil, particle board, and copper minerals from Ecuador. The Chancay megaport's efficiency in connecting Peru with China and other Asian destinations will provide new logistics and investment opportunities. Both nations stress the importance of innovation, sustainability, and technology in strengthening supply chains and enhancing the competitiveness of the agroindustry, manufacturing, and service sectors.
