In the first quarter of 2025, Peru experienced a significant surge in the export of Peruvian pitahaya, also known as dragon fruit. Export volumes saw a fivefold increase to 626 tons, valued at $1.54 million, up from the previous year, despite a 16% drop in the average price per kilogram. Spain emerged as the primary market, accounting for 56% of the exports, followed by the United Kingdom and the Netherlands with 18% each. Fresh fruit made up 99% of the total exports, with a minor fraction being exported as frozen. The main exporters were Camposol S.A., Fruitxchange S.A.C., and Dragon Fruit Export S.A.C., with Jorge Chávez International Airport handling all shipments.
