Peru exported 13,726 tons of passion fruit for $46 million until August

By August 2024, Peru exported 13,726 tons of passion fruit, generating revenues of $46 million. This represents a 5% growth in volume, although a 9% drop in the total value of exports is observed. This decrease is due to the fact that passion fruit prices fell by almost 14%, averaging $3.39 per kilogram. It is important to note that almost no passion fruit exports were recorded as a fresh product (only 1%). Most exports were in the form of processed products (67%) or frozen (32%), according to FreshFruit. Of the 35 countries where Peruvian fruit arrived, the Netherlands was the main destination, with 5,618 tons purchased for $21 million. This represented a 13% growth in volume, but with a 5% reduction in value. Regarding price, it fell by more than 16%, averaging $3.68 per kilogram.
