Peru exported 981 tons of palm hearts for $3.05 million in the second quarter of 2024, which represents a decrease of 22.8% in volume and 10.2% in value compared to the same period in 2023, according to FreshFruit. Despite a 16.3% increase in the average price, which helped mitigate the drop in exported volumes, there was an overall reduction in exports. Peruvian palm hearts were exported mainly to France, which represented 37.5% of sales, followed by the United States with 34.4% and Israel with 8.8%. In the French market, shipments totaled 392 tons for $1.14 million. This was down 25.1% in volume and down 14.8% in value.
