In the first quarter of 2024, Peru's ginger exports reached a record high of 8,453 tons, earning over 22.6 million dollars, with the United States, the Netherlands, Canada, and Germany being the primary markets. The country's ginger exports in 2023 saw a significant increase, becoming a record year with sales of 73,196 tons and 119.1 million dollars, driven by the product's quality and consistent availability. Notably, over 60% of these exports were organic ginger. Sierra y Selva Exportadora, associated with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, is promoting Commercial Articulation Plans to support ginger producers in the Junín region. The country's ginger is grown under optimal conditions and is renowned for its quality, especially in aroma, flavor, and color, providing an advantage during periods of low production in China and India.
