Peru lifted the temporary restriction on Colombian beef and pork

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, MINCIT, reported that Peru once again opened its doors to beef and pork that is shipped from Colombia. That decision that the neighboring country had adopted since 2017 was originated to defend its market from the outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease that occurred in the Colombian territory. The reopening of the Peru market represents an opportunity to reactivate meat exports to that country, which averaged US $ 3 million between 2010 and 2016. Regarding the pig sector, it is expected that the external sales of the sector will recover the good behavior, since this country has registered imports of this product for US $ 20 million in the last three years.
