Peru will build two new river terminals in Iquitos and Saramiriza in the Amazon

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru (MTC) announced the construction of two river terminals in the Loreto region, in the Amazon, with an investment that exceeds US$80 million. These ports will be located in the provinces of Maynas and Datem del Marañón, specifically in the cities of Iquitos and Saramiriza, respectively. Each terminal will have storage, operation and dock areas. They will be equipped to carry out the stowage, transfer and mobilization of cargo. The infrastructure of these terminals seeks to guarantee an adequate provision of port services to serve ships, cargo and passengers. The MTC highlights that the construction of these terminals will have a positive impact on companies in the direct area of influence, which depend on river transportation to move goods to and from Iquitos.
