Peru and Ecuador have reached an agreement to restart Peru's grape exports to Ecuador, opening up the market to 18 million potential consumers. The agreement, signed by the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) and the Phyto and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency (Agrocalidad) of Ecuador, reinstates the phytosanitary requirements for grape export. The deal was facilitated by Midagri through Senasa, as part of the Loja Action Plan's commitments. Trade negotiations are also underway to resume fresh onion exports from Peru to Ecuador. This development is anticipated to boost the Peruvian grape industry, which exported to 53 markets last season, and is expected to contribute positively to the Peruvian agro-export sector.
