Tridge summary

Recently, the Peruvian Blueberry Growers and Exporters Association (Proarándanos) released a report stating that the 2025/26 export season is experiencing significant adjustments, characterized by a shortened production cycle and lower-than-expected shipment volumes.

Data shows that the export volume for this season has already peaked at around 21,000 tons in the 40th week, two weeks earlier than the predicted peak (42nd week, 24,000 tons) at the start of the season, and with a 12.5% decrease in production. The association explained that the shipment situation and weather conditions in the main production areas (La Libertad and Lambayeque regions) have affected the harvesting and shipping times, leading to adjustments in the forecast results.

The Peruvian blueberry export season almost covers the entire year, from May each year to April the following year. Despite the slowdown in exports, the cumulative shipment volume of Peruvian blueberries since May has exceeded 215,000 tons, equivalent to 55-60% of the predicted volume for this season. Although the shipment volume may ultimately not reach the record of the previous season, the main export markets have all maintained steady growth. In terms of export destinations, the United States remains the primary market for Peruvian blueberries, accounting for 44% of total exports, followed by Europe (35%) and China (15%).

Proarándanos predicts that blueberry export volumes will gradually decrease in the coming weeks, further confirming the trend of a shortened season and lower total volume than expected.

In the 2024/25 season, Peruvian blueberry exports exceeded 320,000 tons, setting a historical record, with a longer picking period and stable supply. In comparison, this season has seen a decrease in both the picking volume and the picking period for Peruvian blueberries, which may impact the trade and pricing of Peruvian blueberries.
