Peru maintains its position as the world's leading exporter of blueberries. Between May and August 2025, its shipments reached 71,957 tons, representing a notable increase of 137% compared to the same period of the previous year, although the value only grew by 44%. This difference is due to the increase in production in competing countries such as Mexico, South Africa, and Morocco, which has generated downward pressure on prices in the United States and European markets. According to FreshFruit, the average price drop, which in August retreated by almost 41% to $5.95 per kilogram, accumulates a general decrease of 39% so far in the campaign. In this context, varietal diversification acts as a true "insurance policy" for the industry. In the current campaign, more than nine varieties concentrate 80% of the shipments.
