In the first two months of 2024, Peruvian coffee exports surged by 66% to reach 132 million dollars, compared to the same period in 2023, despite previous challenges such as adverse climate conditions. This remarkable growth is credited to the export of 38,760 tons of coffee to major markets including the United States, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The coffee sector, which is vital for around 223,000 families and spans 427,000 hectares, managed to export 205,000 tons of coffee beans valued at 827.3 million dollars in 2023. Sierra y Selva Exportadora, a key player under the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, is set to further boost this growth by implementing 32 commercial coordination plans for coffee producer organizations within the year.
