In November 2024, Peru experienced a significant decrease in ginger exports, with a 34% drop in volume and a 14% decrease in value compared to the same period in 2023, totaling 46,427 tons worth $100 million. This decline was attributed to adverse weather conditions and negative perceptions about the quality of Peruvian ginger due to informal operations. The United States was the primary importer of Peruvian ginger in November 2024, accounting for 49% of the total imports. Despite the challenges, Vancard Perú S.A.C., JCH Agroexportaciones S.A.C., and Elisur Organic S.A.C. emerged as the leading exporters, contributing 9%, 8%, and 7% of the total exports, respectively.
