Peruvian Granada shows signs of a promising year

(Agraria.pe) Peruvian pomegranates are experiencing a positive turnaround this year. Although 2025 began with lower volumes in January, shipments began to exceed the levels recorded in 2024 starting in March, which anticipates a more favorable close to the year for this fruit. In April, despite a 16% drop in the average price to US$3.26 per kilogram, volume grew by 81% and value grew by 52% compared to the same month last year, reaching 11,061 tons for a value of US$27.95 million. Breaking down April shipments by type of presentation, a clear market preference for fresh pomegranates was evident, representing 88% of shipments, with 10,482 tons for US$24.70 million, or US$2.36 per kilogram. Pomegranate arils ranked second, with 11% of the export value, 556 tons for US$3.21 million, US$5.78 per kilogram. Frozen pomegranates still have a minimal presence.
